Today’s High School student is under immense pressure from the world around them. They are bombarded with influences from every direction that tell them who they should be in order to be “somebody”, not only now but in the future as well. They are pressured by their peers as to what they should look like, how they should dress, how they should talk, who they should and shouldn’t hang out with, how they should act, and what is “cool” and what is not. In the midst of trying to conform to the group they are all trying to be different in order to stand out as well. How confusing this is for our future generations. If they don’t adhere to this code of conduct they are ostracized and find themselves on the outside of “acceptable”.
Unfortunately, these messages foster bondage to a self-absorbed lifestyle that finds our youth trying to keep up on the ever changing treadmill of local pop culture that can never bring satisfaction. It is a work out that wears out and never brings relief from the storm.
Our one true hope for today’s youth is that the love of Christ and the truth of God are more than able to set them free to be who God created them to be. To that end we provide a safe atmosphere where students can relax and enjoy being in a community of people who are constantly encouraged to live and love like Christ lived and loved us.
